Take a break! – A lockdown tale before COVID-19

Frog standing with coffee mug beside a board saying "Take a break"

(Jun 6,2020)

A year ago, I ended up in a collar bone fracture while engaging with a highly powered racing machine; meaning, a go-kart. Unlike this lockdown, where everyone in the world now is feeling like a prisoner confined to their respective cells, my life came to a halt for 3 months last year.

So even before the COVID lockdown, I had an internship experience of 3 months, locked in a condo of a small city of Indiana, called South Be…..

“Please go to sleep.”

A concerned voice popped into my room every 2 am for one month. It was my dad. Acknowledging my father’s concern with a “hmm”, I continued to work. That night I could not sleep at all, since my opponent team was announced which happened to be last year’s winning team. With a troubled voice he said, “it is not important, please……

“Again? How can you be so careless?” yelled my mom & I said, “Sorry!” & started weeping.

This was routine & mom was right! The context here is, that despite my shoulders & scapula compensating for my fragile wrist and fingers to navigate the tightly held glass of milk with chocolate Horlicks from the kitchen to the dining area, I dropped this glass of milk at the average frequency of 3 days per week over 3 years. To add on a few statistics, 15/26 calls on my birthday last month, I discussed which member of the family had temporarily changed their occupations to washing dishes, ironing clothes & dusting the house. Lockdown birthday…….

“I feel weird mom!”

This was my response when asked to pose as a kid, in front of the camera and my yoga teacher.

My dancing, singing, and painting lessons weren’t enough to make me a quintessential desirable woman. And so, yoga was added to the list. From dragging me to ‘kaivalyadhama yoga center’ with the incentive of a mesmerizing view at the Marine Drive, Mumbai……

Dreams have no limits. But mine seemed to be very realistic. Since childhood, my not-so-fancy head dreamed about the same thing every day. Getting ready, stepping down to my car, driving to my office, sipping my green tea, and getting to my desk for work is all I wished. And this dream turned into a reality in the year 2019 following the purchase of my new……
